Tiger is Feeling Himself at Augusta: Round 1 Recap

It’s insane to think how Tiger can turn around his entire golf game just by driving down Magnolia Lane. An aura surrounds him once he arrives on property, and I love everything about it.

He was posting ugly finishes over his last few starts, with a T72 at the ZOZO and MC at the US Open. But today at Augusta National, he was in complete control of his golf ball. Irons were hit to the fat parts of greens, and he was rolling it.

He tee’d off on 10, and slung a draw right down the middle of the fairway. An absolute dream start for a man who mainly hits a cut. Then caught a mud ball, but would get it up and down for par. He would finish his outward 9 at -3, with birdies on 13, 15, and 16. He added another birdie on the Par 4, 1st, by hitting a 20-footer right up the hill to a back, left pin. After making 8 straight pars to end it, he will tee off Friday at -4.

A stat that may highlight how impressive this round truly was for Tiger – It was his first bogey-free round in a major in his last 105 attempts (First bogey-free round at Augusta since 2008). Efficiency wise, Tiger hit 10 of 14 fairways, and 15 of 18 greens.

The warm weather definitely helped, and it’s forecasted to be beautiful the rest of the way. Are we in store for another Tiger Woods run at the Masters? I fucking hope so.
