Phil Mickelson has always been known as a man to open his wallet for a good cause. Not only that, there are stories of Lefty being quite the tipper when it comes to dinner, caddies, and valet.
Ahead of the Match III Champions for Change, Phil has made another sizable impact, this time for a cause we need to all be behind. Mickelson announced a $500,000 donation to Jackson State, a historically Black college located in Mississippi.
Phil made this announcement during his guest appearance on “21st and Prime,” a podcast hosted by Deion Sanders – who was recently announced as the new Head Coach of the Jackson State football team.
“I am not knowledgeable, I am not qualified to talk about race okay? As a white male, I’ll never be able to understand the challenges that Black America goes through, but I want to be part of the solution.“
This half a million dollar sum is sure to grow, as there will be many times during the Match where other donations will be made.
If you want to watch Phil, Charles Barkley, Steph Curry, and Peyton Manning – tune in to TNT on Friday at 3 P.M. ET for the Match 3: Champions for Change (Even though Charles isn’t a champion. Yikes).
